Landscape Artist Next Yost Exhibit Starts February 5

The landscape art of Steven R. Greenwall will be on exhibit in the Walter Yost Art Gallery on the campus of Highland Community College from February 8 through March 10.

The Yost Gallery is open to the public each weekday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Currently an art instructor at Allen County Community College in Iola, Greenwall was born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT. He has since expanded artistically far beyond his mountain roots and now calls the Kansas plains his home. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Brigham Young University, Greenwall taught art in the public schools for ten years before getting an MFA from Utah State University, with an emphasis in drawing and painting.

Landscape pastels dominate his present work, and portraits, figures, and still-life in oils, watercolor, and various drawing mediums are also included in his body of work. He sees his artwork as a celebration of what he sees and feels. While recognized as representational, he often incorporates abstraction to enhance design and expression. His intimate landscapes and portraits suggest the feeling of seclusion and quiet. The light in his pieces serves to represent a divine presence. The recipient of many artistic awards on the state and national level, Greenwall has exhibited internationally and his work is found in public and private collections world-wide.
